Every structural segment of the charge cooling system has been fully engineered and optimized with zero compromises to achieve maximum overall performance. The upgrade utilizes top-tier motorsport-grade cores from Garrett Motorsport, featuring precision stacked thin cooling fins engineered to JQmod exclusive specifications to perfectly balance efficient heat dissipation and unrestricted airflow. This upgradeable turbo platform makes the iconic entry-level 911 highly suitable for high-horsepower performance tuning. Each vehicle platform carries unique structural limitations and design challenges, and the 992 features a completely redesigned intercooler layout compared to all previous 911 generations, despite sharing the same turbo cooling operating principle. Leveraging extensive R&D experience from previous performance cooling projects, our engineering team developed this upgrade with rigorous precision and forward-thinking design. As an early pioneer of high-performance cooling upgrades for the 992 platform, we are extremely proud of this fully refined, track-proven cooling solution.
Traditional Porsche 911 generations adopt a dual rear-fender intercooler layout, with a unified Y-pipe merging dual cooling cores before charge air enters the intake manifold. The 992 platform features a fully revised structure, integrating the intercooler assembly and Y-pipe into a single compact unit mounted beneath the active rear wing. Ambient cooling air flows through rear window channels into the decklid air scoop, passing directly through the intercooler core for efficient heat transfer. The active rear wing significantly boosts cooling efficiency by guiding increased airflow into the core when raised. While this factory layout improves structural rationality, it raises higher design and installation standards for performance cooling upgrades. To accommodate larger-volume, larger-surface-area upgraded cores, we developed custom carbon fiber ducts with increased thickness compatibility. This project elevated our carbon fiber manufacturing and fitting standards, delivering a premium finish and precise OEM-level fitment worthy of the iconic 911 sports car.
Garrett Motorsport Performance Cores
This upgrade is equipped with industry-leading Bar&Plate cooling cores professionally manufactured by Garrett Motorsport, representing top-tier motorsport cooling technology. Dense precision-stacked thin cooling fins form a high-efficiency heat exchange structure with outstanding thermal dissipation capabilities. The 105mm (4-inch) thick cores are engineered to the maximum feasible thickness for the 992 platform, fully utilizing available installation space. Custom 3D freeform cast end tanks evenly distribute charge air across the entire core surface to eliminate dead airflow zones.
The development of the end tank structure involved repeated 3D scanning, CFD flow simulation analysis and iterative 3D prototyping to perfect the final functional design. We prioritize cast aluminum end tanks over conventional CNC-machined alternatives, as complex cast geometry delivers superior airflow performance that rigid machining cannot replicate. For JQmod, functional performance always takes precedence over superficial aesthetics, with maximum airflow efficiency as the core design priority. The end tanks feature precision-machined 70mm (2.75-inch) connection ports to support high-power output tuning. Matched premium JQmod silicone hoses are included to pair with these enlarged ports. Dual cooling cores connect to a unified central outlet tank leading to the intake manifold, integrated with precision machined fittings and dedicated methanol injection bungs.
Premium Carbon Fiber Ambient Air Guides
All air guide ducts are crafted from high-quality vacuum-infused prepreg carbon fiber, retaining complete factory air channel fastening grooves and mounting structures for flawless OEM-style fitment despite complex molded geometry. The two upper air guide ducts feature universal fitment for all 992 models, while the lower ducts are available in two specifications to match factory configurations: Standard and SportDesign. The SportDesign setup optimizes cooling air evacuation through a central bumper outlet, delivering superior thermal dissipation performance for aggressive driving and track use. We provide carbon fiber ducts compatible with both factory configurations, equipped with precision rubber sealing gaskets to eliminate cooling air leakage and ensure full airflow passes through the intercooler core.
Upgraded Aluminum Pipework System
This Bigpack includes full JQmod performance intercooler pipework, a critical upgrade that replaces restrictive, fragile factory OEM hoses. The system adopts mandrel-bent 63mm (2.5-inch) seamless aluminum pipes with a premium satin black powder-coated finish, delivering long-term structural durability and drastically improved airflow consistency. The complete pipe set includes four matched silicone hoses, with turbo outlet hoses constructed from high-temperature resistant material rated for continuous operation up to 240°C (464°F). Constant-tension hose clamps are installed at key connection positions to automatically compensate for thermal expansion and contraction, maintaining a permanent leak-free seal under extreme high-load operating conditions.
Performance Testing & Verification
JQmod upgraded intercoolers deliver substantial and verifiable intake temperature reduction under extreme continuous load conditions. Full performance comparison data versus stock 992 OEM intercoolers is displayed in the product test charts. All real-world test data was professionally recorded using an AIM race logging system. The test vehicle, a 450HP Porsche 911 Carrera S, completed five consecutive full-load test runs on a closed airstrip, with continuous full-throttle acceleration from 50–250 km/h (30–155 mph), hard braking between runs, and zero cool-down intervals to simulate extreme track conditions. The vehicle’s active rear wing remained in the raised performance position throughout the entire test process.
The standardized test procedure began with five baseline runs using factory OEM intercoolers. The cooling system was then rapidly upgraded to the JQmod intercooler kit. After a short conditioning period, five identical full-load test runs were repeated under completely matched environmental and vehicle conditions. The upgraded system achieves a peak intake temperature reduction of 9°C (16.2°F), delivering remarkable thermal stability improvement.
Balanced cooling efficiency and unrestricted airflow are the core of high-performance cooling system design. After extensive R&D refinement of end tank geometry and core specification selection, our intercooler achieves dual improvements in both heat transfer efficiency and airflow performance. All airflow data for JQmod upgraded intercoolers and stock OEM units is verified and calibrated on our in-house Superflow SF-1020 Probench flow bench, ensuring 100% authentic, real-world measurable performance gains.

Miscellaneous Note: Vehicles equipped with the factory Noise Generator (Soundsystem) will have this feature disabled after installation. The factory system delivers induction sound to the cabin via the stock intercooler assembly and is no longer functional with the JQmod upgraded cooling kit.
