Featuring precisely stacked thin cooling fins engineered to JQmod’s exclusive specifications, these cores strike the perfect balance between efficient heat dissipation and unobstructed airflow. Lightweight cast aluminum end tanks cut down overall weight while maintaining optimal air distribution efficiency. To accommodate the thicker, high-performance core, restrictive factory air guides are replaced with top-tier custom carbon fiber ducts. We’ve enlarged all intercooler connection ports and paired them with premium JQmod silicone hoses featuring smooth, gradual bends to eliminate airflow bottlenecks across the entire charge cooling system. With the launch of the 992-generation Porsche 911, the brand phased out traditional naturally aspirated engines, adopting turbocharged powerplants across the entire 911 lineup. This shift makes the iconic entry-level 911 an ideal candidate for high-horsepower performance upgrades. Every vehicle platform presents unique structural challenges and design limitations. While turbocharged cooling system principles remain universal, the 992’s intercooler layout is a complete redesign compared to all previous 911 generations. Leveraging extensive experience from past performance cooling developments, our engineering team designed this upgrade with rigorous precision and forward-thinking innovation. As an early pioneer of high-performance cooling upgrades for the 992 platform, we are extremely proud of this fully refined, track-proven cooling solution.
Previous 911 generations feature dual side-mounted intercoolers housed within the rear fenders, connected by a unified Y-pipe that feeds cooled charge air into the intake manifold. The 992 adopts a fully revised layout, integrating the intercooler assembly and Y-pipe into a single compact unit mounted beneath the rear wing. Ambient cooling air flows through dedicated rear window channels into the decklid air scoop, then passes directly through the intercooler core for maximum heat exchange efficiency. The active rear wing plays a vital role in boosting cooling performance, ramping up airflow intake when raised. While this factory layout is structurally efficient, it poses stricter limitations for performance upgrade modifications. To fit larger-capacity, higher-surface-area intercooler cores, we developed custom carbon fiber ducts to accommodate the increased core thickness. This project elevated our carbon fiber manufacturing standards, delivering a precise OEM-grade fit and flawless finish worthy of the iconic 911 badge.
Garrett Performance Cores:
This upgrade utilizes top-tier Bar&Plate intercooler cores from Garrett Motorsport, representing industry-leading cooling technology. Dense, precision-stacked thin cooling fins create a high-efficiency heat exchange structure with exceptional thermal dissipation capabilities. The 105mm (4-inch) thick cores are engineered to the maximum feasible thickness for the 992 platform, fully utilizing available mounting space. Custom 3D freeform cast end tanks evenly distribute airflow across the entire core surface. The development process included repeated 3D scanning, CFD flow simulation analysis, and iterative 3D prototyping to perfect the final design. We prioritize cast aluminum end tanks over CNC-machined alternatives, as complex cast shapes deliver superior functional airflow performance that rigid machining cannot replicate — performance always takes precedence over aesthetics. The end tanks feature precision-machined 70mm (2.75-inch) connection ports to support high-power output. Matching premium JQmod silicone hoses are included to pair with these enlarged ports. Both intercooler cores connect to a central outlet tank feeding the intake manifold, which integrates precision-machined fittings and pre-installed methanol injection bungs.
Carbon Fiber Ambient Air Guides:
All air guide ducts are crafted from high-quality vacuum-infused prepreg carbon fiber, retaining all factory mounting grooves and channel structures for a perfect OEM-style fit despite their complex molded shape. The upper pair of air guides is universal for all 992 models, while the lower ducts are available in two specifications to match factory configurations: Standard and SportDesign. The SportDesign setup features a central bumper outlet for enhanced cooling air evacuation, delivering superior thermal efficiency for performance applications. We provide carbon fiber ducts compatible with both factory configurations, complete with precision rubber seals to eliminate cooling air leakage and ensure full airflow passes through the intercooler core.
Aluminum Pipework Upgrade:
This Bigpack includes full JQmod performance intercooler pipework, a critical upgrade that replaces restrictive, flimsy factory OEM hoses. The system features mandrel-bent 63mm (2.5-inch) aluminum pipes finished in a premium satin black powder coat for outstanding durability and sleek aesthetics. These rigid aluminum pipes deliver consistent, unrestricted airflow and long-term reliability far exceeding stock components. The pipe set comes equipped with four premium silicone hoses, with turbo outlet hoses constructed from high-temperature resistant material rated for continuous operation up to 240°C (464°F). Constant-tension hose clamps are installed at these key positions to automatically compensate for thermal expansion and contraction, maintaining a permanent leak-free seal under extreme operating conditions.
Performance Testing:
JQmod upgraded intercoolers deliver substantial intake air temperature reduction under high-load driving conditions. Detailed performance comparisons against stock 992 intercoolers are displayed in the product chart images. All test data was professionally recorded using an AIM race logging system, with five consecutive full-throttle test runs conducted on a closed airstrip. Testing was performed on a 450hp Porsche 911 Carrera S, with full-throttle acceleration from 50–250 km/h (30–155 mph), aggressive hard braking between runs, and zero cool-down periods to simulate extreme track conditions. The vehicle’s active rear wing remained in the raised performance position for the entirety of testing.
The standardized test procedure included five baseline runs with factory OEM intercoolers installed. The intercooler system was then quickly swapped to the JQmod upgrade kit. After a short conditioning period, five identical full-load test runs were repeated under exactly matched environmental and vehicle conditions. The upgrade delivers a peak intake temperature reduction of 9°C (16.2°F) — full test data is available in the product graphs.
Effective cooling and optimized airflow are equally essential for peak performance. Extensive R&D refinement of end tank geometry and core selection results in an intercooler system that excels in both heat dissipation and airflow efficiency. All airflow performance data for both JQmod upgraded intercoolers and stock OEM units was verified and calibrated on our in-house Superflow SF-1020 Probench flow bench, ensuring 100% authentic, real-world performance results.

Miscellaneous note: Vehicles equipped with the factory Noise Generator (Soundsystem) will have this feature disabled after installing our intercooler kit. The factory system draws induction sound through the stock intercooler assembly into the cabin, which is no longer functional with our upgraded cooling setup.
